Introduction
Thanks for dropping by. Come on in and have a look around. I'm Paul Baker a  bladesmith from Gloucester, UK.
This site is about handmade knives, with a strong influance to
Japanese Style Swords.
I have been a knifemaker for 35 years, having produced all types of knives and swords, from Bowie knife  to Japanesestyle  style Katana ,Wakizashi and my
greatest pleasure, Tanto.
All my Japanese blades are made from high carbon steels,1085 / cs70/ cs80 and 1060. I also use 01 tool sreel for Hunters Bushcraft and Bowie knives
I use both forge and stock removal methods.
All my bades are differential hardened and tempered, using the traditional clay method. and are finished with water stones.
All fittings are made by me using a variety of materials.
Timbers used range from Ash, sycamore and beech for saya and shirasaya, and more exotic timbers for handles.
I have completed several restoration projects.
A special thanks to John Shannon from Lanarkshire in Scotland, for allowing me the use of photos, of the partial restoration of his Wakizashi, a very satisfying experience!

This restoration included new saya tsuka, and shirasaya. The blade has
undergone a light polishing to reveal the Hamon and some of its features.
